Lanzhou Wanda City: A Masterpiece of Modern Design

Exhibition Center by Liliang Shan Marries Local Culture and Geometric Aesthetics

The design's uniqueness lies in its integration of local cultural and geomorphologic characteristics. Shan has successfully transformed western modernism aesthetic views into an emotion expression that resonates with the east. The result is a space that exudes elegance and calmness, achieved through geometric aesthetics, unique materials, and a profound design concept.

The realization of this design is a testament to Shan's ability to manipulate lines and abstract architectural language to create an elegant and magnificent visual effect. The space requires no redundant decoration, relying instead on high aesthetic taste to evoke clear feelings in its visitors.

The project covers a total of 3000 square meters, with a reception hall that immediately impresses visitors with its classic and noble color scheme. A large area of white background is complemented by the layered distribution of champagne golden fence on the second floor, a metaphor for the typical Danxia landform. The curves of the building's exterior are extended into the interior spatial curves, creating a seamless transition between the two.

The design also takes into consideration the functional attributes of different areas. The elevator hall, for example, uses artistic installations to highlight the space implication of field domains, adding a touch of artistry to the otherwise quiet space. The design metaphorically suggests that clients can encounter new modern urban life here.

The project, which started in April 2019 and was completed in October of the same year, faced a number of challenges. One of these was the need to reflect the project's determination and efforts to boost the local economy. This was achieved through the stepped modelling of the wall, which extends to the canopy and presents a strong interattraction with the sand table right below.

Despite the challenges, the Lanzhou Wanda City Exhibition Center has been recognized for its design excellence. It was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The design is not only a showcase of Shan's remarkable level of excellence but also a source of positive feelings, amazement, and wonder for its visitors.
